Tax Exemption

Tax Exemption on Donations Under Section 80G

Charity is a powerful way to give back to society. Whether in money or kind, your contribution to help the needy not only brings inner satisfaction but also comes with financial benefits — such as tax exemption.

Sarhul Dream Foundation, a registered NGO based in Barkagaon, Hazaribagh, works toward supporting underserved communities through various welfare programs. As part of our transparency and credibility, we are registered under the Income Tax Act, which allows our donors to claim tax benefits under Section 80G.

What is Tax Exemption?

Tax exemption means a reduction or complete relief from the tax liability imposed by the government on income, property, or other financial assets. Donations made to charitable organizations like ours qualify for this relief — but only if the NGO is registered and approved under Section 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act.

It’s important to note that 12A registration gives tax-exempt status to the NGO itself, while 80G registration allows donors to claim deductions on donations. Religious trusts are not eligible under this section — only verified charitable institutions are.

Section 80G Benefits for Donors

Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961, allows donors to claim deductions up to 50% of the amount donated, when calculating their taxable income. To avail this benefit:

  • The NGO must be registered under 80G
  • Donors must collect a valid donation receipt and 80G certificate
  • The NGO must operate within India for charitable purposes

When you donate to Sarhul Dream Foundation, you're not only supporting change at the grassroots but also earning eligibility for tax deduction — making your donation both impactful and financially beneficial.
